History
ERPUG is a non-profit organization established in 2012. It was started on the initiative of Roger Möller (employed at Ramboll) and Leif Sjögren (then employed at VTI) as a 50/50 % cooperation activity. An advisory group consisting of European stakeholders was created. It was decided to use the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) in Linköping, Sweden, to host the administration of ERPUG.
Objectives and vision
The European Road Profile Users' Group (ERPUG) is to serve as a forum for exchanging information in an informal setting. The target groups are data providers, road owners, road authorities, researchers, and other stakeholders who have an interest in collecting and using road condition data.
This could be road surface profiles and other data that can characterize road surface properties, such as unevenness, rutting, pavement textures, structural capacity, etc.
